Treatment on demand day
We are a church founded on love, where “Charity is Key.” Focusing on charity through community outreach, one of our initiatives has been supporting recovery from active addiction. One way of doing this is providing Treatment on Demand.
Treatment on Demand Day is a Dorcas Freewill Baptist Church community outreach initiative promoting and supporting recovery from drug addiction. All citizens seeking help are welcome, but we are actively supporting West Baltimore, especially the Sandtown and Harlem Park West neighborhoods.

Our first Treatment on Demand Day was Saturday, May 12, 2012. More than fifty individuals chose the path to recovery that day, including many who chose to join residential programs in Philadelphia. In the summer of 2014, we supported a Treatment on Demand event in Carroll Park spearheaded by one our parishioners, Sonnie Price, who works with residential programs.

On this day, service providers from the Baltimore and Philadelphia metropolitan areas set up individual stations in the 1900 block of Edmondson Avenue and the 600 block of Appleton Street to address the various needs of community members seeking assistance. We have Baltimore providers offering mental healthcare, detoxification support, outpatient programs, and residential treatment. We also have Philadelphia providers offering long-term residential programs. Clients signing up for treatment on this day will receive a care package, sponsored by the Dorcas Hospitality Committee, to support them on their journey. Our committee will also follow up with phone outreach/support. It is a part of our mission to help lead our neighbors to new lives.
